Chapter 1
The light woke Emma earlier than usual. Her birthday had been a great night. But another day had come, and they would keep coming until Emma was old and grown up. But as a wiggle of her bottom would confirm, she could still stay young at heart. Beneath her pajamas was the Pull-Up that she had put on the night before. Only this time she had managed to wet it before falling asleep.
Emma knew she couldn’t really slow the aging process, but this was one thing she could control. She might grow old and her friends might fade away, but she could stay this way for as long as she wanted.
After a while, she did grow uncomfortable in the diaper. It was sagging down between her legs, and was starting to smell. Realizing that it was time to start the day, she got out of bed and undressed.
Emma took the wet Pull-Up, rolled it up, and tied it up in an extra plastic bag she had hid under her bed the night before. She wasn’t taking any chances of the smell giving her away.
After hiding the Pull-Up at the bottom of her garbage pail, Emma headed off to shower.

After breakfast, Emma was in her room reading when her mother came in and said. “Emma, the new neighbors are moving in. We’re all going over there to visit.”
“Okay,” Emma said as she started getting ready. Emma was actually quite excited. The prospect of new neighbors meant one thing for Emma: A new kid on the street to play with. Hopefully the new neighbors had at least one girl relatively close to her age.
Emma and her family headed next door. They passed the massive trucks and stopped at the wide open front door, where there was no one around.
From the door, Emma’s parents admired their nice furniture, then walked in to look around.
“Is this trespassing?” Emma asked.
“Not on moving day,” her father said.
“Hello!” a voice said, followed by the appearance of a woman. She wasn’t dressed to receive guests, but rather in sweats and a ponytail, with a preschool aged boy tugging on her leg.
“Hi,” Emma’s mom said, “We’re from next door. Just wanted to come say hello.”
“Well, I’m Lois,” The woman said, “And this little guy is Henry. Come on into the den, my husband should be in there.”
Lois led them down the hall and into the den. Emma’s father hit it off with Walter, Lois’s husband. Emma didn’t bother paying attention to any of their conversation. She was too preoccupied with why the room was called a “den” when it was just a room.
Suddenly, Emma turned at the sound of running and laughing. She thought she was about to meet someone her age.
The kids stopped right by the den, and Emma realized that they were far from her age.
“This is Chloe and Brigham,” Lois introduced her two teenagers to the Shepards. After the kids walked off, Emma gave up on the chance of meeting someone her age.
“Anne, lemme show you the kitchen,” Lois said, and soon Emma was left alone in a hall in the house. She looked around.
Emma wandered toward what she thought was the kitchen, but found herself in a living room, and then a garage, and somehow in a completely different living room.
Emma wondered why this house had so many living rooms. She found herself at the front door again, and examined the shoes that were so neatly lined up by the door. There were two pairs of adults, two for teenagers, and even a set of baby shoes.
But more interestingly, there was a pair that looked too old to be a baby’s, and two immature to belong to a teenager. Emma put her own foot down next to them, and figured she could probably fit in them.
Before she even formulated the thought, she heard a voice say, “Hello, there.”
Emma turned around and saw a girl, about her age, maybe a year or two older, with long orange hair and an incredibly nice-looking smile.
“I’m Susie,” she said.
Chapter 2
“And you are?” Susie asked.
Emma was stunned. After giving up on the prospect of meeting someone her age, Emma didn’t know what to say.
“Are you one of my new neighbors?” Susie asked.
Emma nodded.
Susie turned her head, and looked deep into Susie’s eyes. “Do you know how to talk?” she asked.
“Yes!” Emma nearly shouted, then quieted down. “I live next door. My name is Emma.”
“Cool,” Susie said, “Come on, I’ll show you around.” Emma followed along, and Susie showed her around the house, and told her story. “Me and my family just moved here from Utah.”
“Why did you move?” Emma asked.
Susie shrugged, “Everything was fine and then my dad got really mad at everyone and wouldn’t let me see any of my friends. And then we moved.”
“Huh,” Emma thought that was strange.
“What’s this place like?” Susie asked.
“Oh you’ll love living here,” Emma said, “There are tons of girls who live around here, and we’re all in the same class.”
“What grade are you in?” Susie asked.
“Third,” Emma said, then corrected herself, “Well, fourth I guess. I’m still getting used to that. You know, new school year.”
“I’m in sixth grade,” Susie said. “Any sixth grade girls live around here?”
Emma stomach churned, “Only one,” she said, “My cousin, Abigail.”
“Oh yeah?”
Emma and Susie turned around. Standing right behind them, ready to take away Emma’s new friend, was Abigail.
“Oh, hello there, Emma,” Abigail’s mom, Emma’s aunt Debra, was suddenly standing behind Abigail. “We just wandered in the front door and can’t seem to find anyone.”
Abigail’s fake smiled haunted Emma.
“I’m Susie. Mine and Emma’s moms are in the kitchen,” Susie pointed. Debra thanked her and walked off.
“Hiya,” Abigail said, approaching Susie, “My name is Abigail. I’m Emma’s cousin and I’m in the sixth grade at Harmony Hills Middle School.”
“Me too,” Susie said. A second later, she giggled and said, “Except for the cousin part.”
Susie and Abigail giggled together. Emma’s world fell apart. She had just met this new friend, and all of a sudden she was taken away by Emma’s worst nightmare.
“Susie,” Emma said, “I need to talk to you. Over here.”
Emma pulled Susie away, and they began whispering.
“What is the matter with you?” Susie asked.
“Don’t listen to her,” Emma whispered, “She’s evil.”
“What?”
“She is mean to everyone she knows,” Emma explained, “Nobody likes her.”
Susie looked over at Abigail, who was simply smiling.
“She seems nice,” Susie said.
“That’s how she gets you,” Emma said. “She acts all nice and happy and gets you gifts and stuff.”
“That doesn’t sound too bad,” Susie said.
Emma thought about it. “It’s hard to explain.”
“Listen, Emma,” Susie said, “I like you, and I want to be your friend. But why can’t I be friends with both of you?”
Seeing that Susie had made up her mind, Emma makes one last ditch effort. “Because she’s evil.”
“Okay,” Susie said just before she walked over to Abigail. The two began chatting about the middle school, shopping mall, and boys.
Emma was filled with dread. For a second, there was another little kid in the neighborhood. Now, there was just another teenager.
Chapter 3
Susie was getting ready for her first day of school. She was excited to make new friends. After spending some time with Abigail, she was looking forward to meeting all the people from school that she had been told about.
When she was dropped off, Susie just stopped and looked up at the building. Harmony Hills Middle School was much different from her school in Utah. Everyone was walking around happy and free. Her school in Utah was fun, but there was something different here.
As she made her way to the front door, Susie bumped into Abigail
“Hi, Susie,” Abigail smiled, “Welcome to Harmony Hills Middle School. Let me show you around.”
“Okay,” Susie smiled.
Susie began to understand what Emma was talking about when she had called Abigail “evil” the previous day. Abigail spent a few minutes explaining the ins and outs of the Middle School. She went into detail about the various cliques, who was cool and who was not.
While Susie was used to this sort of thing from being in Fifth Grade last year, Emma might not be used to typical tween life.
During all of Abigail’s popularity talk, Susie was looking around at all the kids. She pointed at one particular girl, then asked “Who’s that?”
Abigail looked around, and saw who Susie was pointing at. “Oh GOD, the further you are away from her, the better.”
“Huh?” Susie was confused. “Why?” she asked.
“That’s Penny,” Abigail explained. “She’s just one of my cousin’s lame friends. She’s just shy and weird and all kinds of messed up.”
“What exactly does that mean?” Susie asked.
“If you really want to know, let me just tell you that it’s disgusting!” Abigail exclaimed, “She basically wasn’t potty trained until... Well I’m, not sure if she was ever declared 100% potty trained.”
“Oooooh,” Susie said, looking across the yard at the frail looking girl.
“She was always peeing herself all the time,” Abigail continued, “And she even wore Pull-Ups to Kindergarten. I don’t think she does anymore, but she should.”
“That’s kind of sad,” Susie said. She could tell just from looking at her that that Penny probably hasn’t had the best childhood. Susie felt bad for her.
“Also,” Abigail said, “She’s allergic to everything, has an adopted sister, and she’s albino.”
That last bit further explained to Susie why Emma might not like Abigail all that much. The allergies were not her fault, there was nothing particularly wrong with having an adopted sister, and Abigail clearly didn’t know what the world “albino” meant.
As Susie was thinking this, the bell rang. Abigail grabbed Susie and pulled her in. As she was being dragged inside, Susie caught one last glimpse of Penny.
Chapter 4
When school let out, Susie waited around, hoping to get a chance to talk to Penny. When she finally saw her, Susie got up and went over to her.
When the two were face to face, she asked “Are you Emma’s friend?”
Penny nodded.
“I moved in next door to Emma yesterday,” Susie said. “She’s really nice.”
“I live across the street,” Penny quietly muttered.
“I also met her cousin Abigail,” Susie went on, “She’s really cool too.”
Penny raised an eyebrow. “What? You like Abigail? Why?”
Susie rolled her eyes. Another person who hated Abigail. “She’s nice.”
“No,” Penny shook her head. “She’s evil.”
“That’s what Emma said!” Susie exclaimed, “What does that actually mean?
Penny couldn’t think of anything. As she sat there thinking, her mom pulled up and called for her.
“I have to go,” Penny said, as she jumped up and headed to the car.
* * *
“Just set them in the kitchen,” Lois said. Susie’s mother had gone grocery shopping before picking her up from school.
While Susie and her siblings helped her mom bring in groceries, Lois stayed in the kitchen, unbagging everything.
“Susie, can you go put these up in Henry’s room?” Lois asked when everything was brought in side.
Susie looked up, and saw that Lois was handing her a large pack of diapers. “Yeah,” she said, and took the package upstairs.
When Susie got into her brother’s room, she set the new package under the changing table.
Before she left, Susie glanced down at the diapers that were already out. The thought of Penny wearing diapers well after she was supposed to be potty trained was interesting. She picked one up, and wondered if it would fit her.
Susie left the diaper alone and went back into her room to start her homework. However, all she could do was think about her own past experiences with her toilet training and subsequent accidents.
Based on her memory, Susie didn’t exactly have a rough time making it to the bathroom. She certainly wasn’t as problematic as Abigail made Penny seem. But that doesn’t mean Susie was perfect.
Susie was pretty much completely out of diapers, day and night, by the time she was three. After that, she had only ever had the occasional accident now and then. Looking back, she was actually quite embarrassed about her last accident.
It was when she was in second grade. She didn’t remember specifically why it happened, but she remembered having to pee, and then all of a sudden her pants were wet. She somehow managed to not be seen by anyone before she could tell a teacher. It was only mortifying now that Susie had figured out she was seven when it happened, older than the last time it apparently happened to Penny.
But at least Penny got to wear Pull-Ups. The idea of Penny having worn Pull-ups to school, captivated Susie. Aside from her accident in second grade, she’d practically had a dozen or so the year before. Whenever Susie had a lot to drink at the movies, had to stand in line at Disneyland, or simply forgot she had to go, it would’ve been a lot better to be wearing a Pull-Up than wet pants.
Even on the recent drive up from Utah, Susie was constantly running to the bathroom at every rest stop, nearly leaking in her shorts at one point. She never had a full on accident, put a diaper would’ve made the trip a lot easier.
After thinking about it for so long, Susie snuck into Henry’s room. She picked up one of his diapers and held it up in front of her waist, just to see if it would fit. It was hard to say exactly, but Susie was convinced it would probably at least fit well enough to be functional.
Feeling rather impulsive, Susie grabbed a diaper and quickly ran back into her room.
Chapter 5
Back in her room, Susie, naked from the waist down, was rolling around on her bed and leaning up against the wall, trying to get the diaper to stay in place. Susie figured it would’ve been much easier if someone was helping her put it on, or if she had a Pull-Up.
After much struggling, Susie eventually managed to get the diaper on. It was a snug fit. Her baby brother wasn’t much of a baby any more. He was getting bigger and on his way to potty training, so the diaper was a larger size, almost perfect for Susie.
When she was certain the diaper wasn’t going to pop off of her, Susie stopped and looked at herself for a bit, not exactly sure what she was expecting.
It didn’t exactly feel that interesting. It wasn’t uncomfortable, but it also wasn’t unpleasant feeling. Susie was a bit disappointed. There simply wasn’t anything fun about wearing a diaper.
“Susie!” Lois called.
Susie’s heart jumped down her throat. She heard the steps of her mother coming toward her room as she frantically put her pants on, over the diaper.
Her mother entered, finding Susie sitting calmly on her bed, doing homework. “Honey I have to go take Brigham and Chloe to the doctor. Since your dad won’t be back until late, I called Mrs. Shepard from next door and she said you could hang out there for the afternoon.”
“Uhm... Okay,” Susie thought about her diaper and said, “I just need to change first.”
“Honey, I gotta go,” Lois said, “Chloe and Brigham are waiting in the car. Grab your homework and let’s go.”
Realizing there was nothing else to do, Susie said, “Okay,” and started packing her bag as her mom rushed her from the doorway.
As she was led next door, every step she took reminded her of the horrible mistake hidden inside of her pants. Susie’s biggest fear in that moment was the thought of Emma finding out she was in a diaper. She had no idea what Emma would say, but it probably wouldn’t be good.
* * *
“Emma’s downstairs in the basement,” Mrs. Shepard said when Susie showed up at the door. Susie’s mom thanked Anne and said goodbye as Susie went downstairs.
When she got downstairs, Susie was horrified to find out that Penny was also over to play.
“Hi, Susie!” Emma said, “Penny says that you’re in love with Abigail?”
Susie immediately forgot about the diaper. “What?” she asked.
“I didn’t say that,” Penny said, “But she did say that she liked her.”
“Why do you like Abigail so much?” Emma asked.
Both girls stared at Susie. “I just,” she was at a loss for words. “Look, I just don’t see what you guys have against her. Sure she’s a little... much. But I’ve known meaner girls. That’s just what happens in middle school. My sister is in high school and she says that as girls grow up they just start to act like that. You might think she’s evil, but she’s really just being a typical girl her age.”
Emma and Penny looked at each other. They looked back at Susie, and Emma said, “She’s been like that since she was four.”
“She’s nice to me,” Susie said.
Emma rolled her eyes and turned back to Penny. “I like her,” she said, “But Susie is lost forever.”
“Abigail takes another life,” Penny nodded.
“Let’s just watch some TV,” Emma said. She then turned to Susie and said, “If you want to be friends with her, that’s fine with me.”
While Susie was upset that two people she wanted to be friends with her basically writing her off, she was glad that she was no longer the center of attention.
However, the moment of relaxation was short lived. While she wasn’t at risk of being caught wearing a diaper. She had bigger issues brewing.
Susie had to pee.
Chapter 6
After half an hour, Susie was in agony. She had drank an average amount of milk at lunch and taken a few trips to the water fountain during the second half of the day. It was normal for her. However, one piece of normal that she had all but forgotten was her trip to the bathroom immediately after getting home from school.
Now, Susie was trying to figure out a plan. Even if she went to the bathroom, she wouldn’t be able to put the diaper back on. That would leave her naked under her pants. Susie didn’t want to find out which would be more uncomfortable; that, or a wet diaper.
And even if she could get it off, where was she going to put a diaper in Emma’s house?
However, after all that thinking, Susie realized that she had spent too long figuring it out. Her body had decided for her. The pressure had become so much that she eventually began to wet the diaper.
Susie’s heart was beating faster than ever. She could feel the diaper swelling up between her legs. It was warm and squishy, and Susie wanted nothing but for it to be off.
After a minute, Susie began to smell what she had done. She assumed that if she could smell it, than the smell would probably be detectable by Emma and Penny, making Susie even more paranoid that she would be found out.
“Where is the bathroom?” Susie asks.
“You can use the one across from my bedroom,” Emma said. “You’ll be able to tell once you get up there.”
“Okay,” Susie said. As she stood, she slowly walked, hoping they wouldn’t hear the diaper crinkle, but also not be seen as walking funny. Once she was up the steps, Susie bolted it to second floor where she rushed inside the bathroom.
Susie locked the door behind her, and then took off her pants. She looked in the mirror, and freaked out. This was quite possibly the worst experience she had ever been involved in.
“Oh,” a voice said.
Susie turned and saw Emma standing in the doorway, eyes widened with shock and confusion.
“The lock is broken,” Emma said.
“Emma,” Susie said, “I was just... It was a dare.”
“Oh,” Emma seemed to sort of believe that.
“No,” Susie said, “It’s for... charity.”
“What?” Now Emma was completely confused.
Susie sighed. She gave up. “It’s my brother’s,” she said. “I put it on because I was curious and I peed in it because... I’m a freak. That’s probably what you think, huh?”
“No,” Emma said, shaking her head. “I actually totally understand what you’re talking about.”
“Really?” Susie was confused. How exactly could Emma understand this.
“Come with me.”
Susie carried her pants in her arms and dashed across the hall.
Emma locked the door and said, “What I am about to show you, you cannot tell anyone. not Abigail, not Penny, not anyone.”
“I’m the sixth grader in the wet diaper,” Susie said, “If you don’t tell anyone that, I’ll keep any secret you want.”
Emma opened her dresser and pulled out a Pull-Up from underneath layers of clothes.
“This is my last one,” Emma said, “I took two of them from Abigail’s little cousin who was staying with them.”
“What happened to the other one?” Susie asked, having a pretty good idea what the answer was.
“Well it was my birthday,” Emma said, “So I... you know,” Emma pointed to the condition of Susie’s current diaper.
“Why?” Susie asked.
Emma shrugged. “I was curious.”
Susie smiled. She understood exactly what she was talking about.
Chapter 7
Emma tied Susie’s diaper up in a plastic bag and shoved it at the bottom of her wastebasket. Seconds later, Susie came back in the room.
“All clean,” she said, “Thanks for the underwear.”
“Don’t pee in them,” Emma said.
Susie looked confused.
“Because,” Emma explained her failed joke, “they’re not... diapers.”
“Oh,” Susie giggled and then sat down on her bed. Emma sat down next to her. “So,” Susie began, “How exactly did you get... into this?”
“When I was younger,” Emma explained, “I was always around Penny and-”
“Me too!” Susie exclaimed. “I mean,” she went on when Emma was clearly confused, “I wasn’t around Penny, but Abigail told me that she used to wet herself a lot and wore Pull-Ups to school.”
“Susie that’s exactly why everyone hates Abigail,” Emma said, “That was a hard time for her, and none of your business.”
“I guess,” Susie agreed. While she didn’t mind Abigail that much, her long rant about how gross Penny used to be was a bit excessive.
“But I guess,” Emma went on, “if Abigail hadn’t gossiped, we would never have found out that we shared the same... hobby.”
“Is that what this is?” Susie asked, “A hobby?”
Emma shrugged, “I kind of like doing it. Wearing them and stuff.”
“A hobby is something you do every now and then,” Susie said.
“Well I do want to do it again,” Emma said. “Do you?”
Susie shrugged. “At first I hated it,” she said, “I don’t know. Maybe. I just don’t want to get caught again.”
“Well I already know about it,” Emma said, “You don’t have to worry about me catching you. You can sleep over some time. We can make a night out of it.”
“I’ll bring the diapers,” Susie said, before she knew what she was doing. She had only just moved to Harmony Hills, and now had a new friend and a new hobby.
Suddenly Penny walked in and asked “What have you been doing up here for like half an hour?”
Emma and Susie giggled.
“Nothing,” the two said in unison.
Penny couldn’t think of anything. As she sat there thinking, her mom pulled up and called for her.
“I have to go,” Penny said, as she jumped up and headed to the car.
